About
Details
Start dozens of fires from a flame source generating 5400 degrees F. Scrape with knife; ignite shavings. Made in USA.
Directions
1. Pare a small pile of Magnesium shavings (at least enough to cover a quarter). Use a sharp knife held at 90 degrees to the magnesium block. 2. Gather tinder (twigs, leaves, paper, oil soaked cloth, etc.) in a pile adjoining the magnesium shavings. 3. Hold the Fire Starter with the sparking insert up at about a 45 degree angle within an inch of the shavings. 4. Scrape the length of the starter using the back (spine) of the knife creating sparks which will ignite the magnesium shavings. 5. The magnesium shavings will burn rapidly but the extreme heat will ignite even damp (not wet) tinder. Be prepared to add additional fuel to build and maintain an adequate fire.
Warnings
Magnesium in solid form is safe and is not combustible. Do not pare shavings before they are needed.
