San Polo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 100% Sangiovese Grosso is an estate-grown Brunello from the classic “Montalcino Zone” which boasts a higher elevation and contains the largest contingent of Montalcino’s highest-scoring wines. The organically grown vines are planted in a Southeast/Southwest orientation in rocky, calcium-rich soil with some clay. Clusters are carefully selected and hand-harvested in small 17kg crates. A secondary grape-by-grape selection takes place at the winery within minutes of harvest, before fruit fermented in concrete tanks with native yeast. Malolactic fermentation is conducted in large oval oak barrels and the finished wine is aged for a minimum of 30 months in 10, 20 & 40 hl oval oak tonneux. An additional aging of 6+ months in bottle before release ensures this wine is at once full-bodied and soft on the palate. The 2018 vintage received 93 points from James Suckling and 92 points from Wine Spectator. One 750mL bottle of San Polo Brunello di Montalcino Red Wine, 14.2% ABV
• This wine is at once full-bodied and soft on the palate.
• San Polo’s vineyards obtained organic certification in 2017 and the estate was the first winery in Tuscany to be awarded the CasaClima Wine Certification, a rigorous quality seal representing a comprehensive dedication to sustainability in the vineyard, winery, and local community.
• The 2018 vintage received 93 points from James Suckling in 2021
• This Italian red wine pairs extremely well with highly-structured cuisine such as red or white roasted meat and game, roasted vegetables, truffle-infused oil and matured cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Tuscan pecorino
• Located within a short drive to Florence, Siena and the sea, Montalcino is one of the most popular wine regions to visit in Italy. The San Polo Brunello organically grown vines are planted in a Southeast/Southwest orientation in rocky, calcium-rich soil with some clay.
