The San Francesco vineyard is the emblem of Tasca Family’s work at Regaleali and represents the relentless research and innovation of the Tenuta Regaleali team. Grafted in 1985 by Count Lucio Tasca, the San Francesco vineyard was conceived to rival France’s Burgundy & Bordeaux. This vineyard is planted exclusively to two of France’s most revered varieties: Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chardonnay planted here is harvested by hand between the end of August and beginning of September after which time it is fermented and aged for 8 months in French oak barrels of 350L (70% New and 30% second passage) with select yeasts. A rich and powerful wine, with hints of dried and candied fruit with toasty nuances. Aromas of white chocolate and roasted hazelnuts blend beautifully with hints of honey, candied citron and tea. On the palate it has an expressive, rich entry, with a balanced freshness on the finish and excellent persistence. The 2020 vintage received 92 points from James Suckling and from Wine Enthusiast. One 750mL Tenuta Regaleali Vigna San Francesco Chardonnay White Wine, 14.1% ABV
